ICPC
Interstate Child Placement Contract is put in place so that children may be adopted across state lines. It assures the paperwork is in order and that both states are aware of the adoption. Usually ICPC is managed by your attorney and/or agency and the attorney and/or agency of the party in the other state. When adopting a child from another state, it is illegal to take the child across state lines until ICPC is completed! Usually, in the case of a newborn, ICPC is "rushed" through and completed within a week...usually. Generally, you will need a copy of your homestudy, paperwork from each state, etc.
