Older
Children for Adoption Adopting older children: If you are looking to adopt older children through a private agency, please make sure they have had physicals, mental health evaluations, dental exams, etc. Many agencies don't do that and you have no idea what you are taking on. There is a reason the child/ren are being placed and the birth parents are not always upfront with issues the child/ren may have. Adopting any child comes with risks. Adopting a child other than an infant can include behavior issues, neglect, abuse, food issues, attachment issues, etc. Please research these things and get some education on how to handle these behaviors before you adopt an older child or toddler. Look into the possibilities of subsidies and medicaid. You may need them! That usually needs to be addressed before finalization.
