Adoptive Families

BILL of RIGHTS

 

1. We have the right to be treated with respect, honesty and compassion by all those helping us on our adoptive journey.

2.  We have the right to choose how to pursue fulfilling our adoption plan without criticism.

3.  We have the right to be informed of all costs without criticism, threats, etc.  When we ask about a fee breakdown, it should be provided without hesitation, negatitivity or defense.

4. We have the right to any and all information about prospective adoptive children.

5. We have the right to evaluate prospective adoptive situations without undue pressure of possibly 'losing' to another family while we do so.

6.  We have the right to counseling and education from qualified, trained professionals who understand our journey and support us.

7.  We have the right to ALL information that will assist in making ethical choices about adoption service providers that we use, including professional biographies showing qualification, training, and nature of experience, membership in professional organizations, year-end financial statements, code of ethics of the organization, dispute resolution process of the organization, copy of the license ofthe organization and individual service providers, and the contact information of the licensing/regulatory body, disclosure on any unresolved complaints/problems, contingencies.
